Top Priority

Like Jesus taught in the Parable of the Soils in the devotional Getting the Heart Ready, the word of God planted in a soul with integrity is like seed planted in fertile soil that flourishes into a banner crop. Bible study and prayer therefore should be a top priority.

In getting our heart ready to be receptive to God’s Word, find a place and time where there are no distractions. Have a desire to hear from God, escape the distractions of the world, be still, and just listen to God’s voice.

Pray for wisdom, believe in His goodness, have faith He will bring blessings, and worship through music. Here’s a video to help get your day started: Stop the World – Matthew West.

And the Words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. – Psalm 12:6

About Mark Shields

Mark volunteers as a member of the media ministry team at his church. A few years ago, he started an on-line Bible study guide called “This Day with God Devotional”. He uses this as a tool in his journey through the Bible. We live in a very busy world with busy schedules so this tool has helped him continue with daily Bible reading and study. Each of the studies are designed to help apply our faith in the work place, at school, or at home. Join him on this journey or check in every so often to read his thoughts.
