The Reason

The lesson for me in reading Luke 9: “Understanding the Kingdom” is that greatness is achieved through humility because then there is sincerity and a dependence on God. There is plenty of work to be done in this world and we should understand that God is not interested in how we do things but that His good work is done.

The competition we face in this world is between good and evil. It is not between other groups simply because they do things different. We should appreciate and affirm others who stand for good; understanding that God is interested more about the why rather than what or how.

We should humbly step up to the plate and rely on God’s power to accomplish the task before us. Here’s a video to help us understand more about the why; that God is the reason for every good thing and we should give glory to Him: The Afters – Every Good Thing.

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. – Romans 15:7

About Mark Shields

Mark volunteers as a member of the media ministry team at his church. A few years ago, he started an on-line Bible study guide called “This Day with God Devotional”. He uses this as a tool in his journey through the Bible. We live in a very busy world with busy schedules so this tool has helped him continue with daily Bible reading and study. Each of the studies are designed to help apply our faith in the work place, at school, or at home. Join him on this journey or check in every so often to read his thoughts.
