God rewarded Noah’s family after the flood but also made them accountable as I wrote in the post yesterday: Rewards and Reprimands. They would be in charge of all living things on earth and could now eat meat but there were some stipulations. They could not eat meat with blood in it and they would respect fellow humans; being held accountable if they killed another person.
God also blessed them with a covenant. The covenant was that never again would the waters become a flood to destroy all life. The sign of this covenant was the rainbow.
Noah lived for many years after the flood and there were times he displayed human weakness. The flood didn’t completely fix things and that’s why the ultimate plan of God was needed. Here’s a video about that fix: Give Me Jesus – Jeremy Camp.
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. – 2 Corinthians 4:15-16
