Abraham moved to another region and he again told everyone that Sarah was his sister as he did in Genesis 12:10-19. In Genesis 20, Abraham wants her described as his sister to protect him because he was afraid another man would kill him for her. The king of Gerar named Abimelek takes Sarah in but God tells him in a dream that she is a married woman (v. 3).
Life is full of challenges and if we act without God leading us, there are always problems. We all can have downfalls in life and two major reasons are fear and insecurity. Like Abraham who had an insecurity problem that led to deception, we sometimes have fear in today’s world because of what others may think about us and this leads to deception.
Character flaws can seep in when we lack the courage to stand up for God and follow His ways. As we go through life, we may notice that unchristian people at times are more ethical than Christians. Being a Christian takes continual growth and discipline. If we start to get off the path, things can get difficult fast.
To stay on the path, we need to continually meet with God in prayer and there is an efficient and effective way to meet with God; every activity, every conversation, every problem, and even every thought. We can get ready for the challenges of each day by going to the ONE who created it all and passionately stirring each other up to boldly step ahead.
Let us live by this verse:
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20
